WordPress 5.0

WordPress is bugging me to update, and it sounds like a major change. I’m holding off for the moment while investigate the ramifications, but it’s probably something I’ll have to do sooner or later. I mention this because 1) if anyone more knowledgeable than I about WordPress has any advice it would be much appreciated and 2) worst case scenario the site could go down for a while if things go sideways. Not likely, but just in case, I wanted to give you all a heads-up. Should that happen, don’t panic, I’ll be working hard to put it back together.

  1. Im not more knollagable just curios, yes i misspelled curious ……… Anyway could you Explain wordpress?
I wanna know how to use it, If its free or not, Etc.

    • WordPress is software for running a blog, the same way Firefox is software for browsing the web or Microsoft Word is software for word processing.

It is indeed free, but keep in mind that unless you’re going to serve your blog directly from your home computer (probably not a great idea) you still have to find someone to host it like any other website, which may not be free. There is a free host, wordpress.com, though they don’t allow adult content. But if you want to experiment with it, that might be a good place to start. Actually it’s not, turns out so many features are disabled in the free version that it’s pretty much useless.

Come to think of it, making an account there myself so I can try out version 5.0 before I commit to installing it here might not be a bad idea.
Voiceover: It was a bad idea.
